The Mater Hospital Springfield Stage 2 project in Brisbane is currently underway and is expected to be completed by December 2024. This expansion will add a new 10-storey building and will significantly increase the hospital’s capacity and services. The new facility will include 174 public overnight and same-day beds, an Intensive Care Unit, a Maternity Service, and a much-needed Emergency Department. Additionally, there will be more operating theatres and an endoscopy procedural area​.

This project is a collaboration between Mater Health Services and the Queensland Government, with an investment of over $1 billion over the next decade. The state government has contributed $177 million to the project. The expansion aims to cater to the growing population in the Greater Ipswich region, which is projected to increase significantly in the coming years​​.
